Cutting Young Girls Isn’t ‘Religious Freedom’

It’s important for readers to know that Female Genital Mutilation is not “Female Circumcision”. That is a term used by defenders of the practice in order to make FGM seem equivalent by comparison to male circumcision. Circumcision of males carries the same risk of infection as any other medical procedure that involves cutting skin but is otherwise harmless. FGM on the other hand has long-lasting, often lifelong physical and emotional consequences for girls and is done for purposes that have nothing to do with a woman’s health or well-being.

All Leftist Things Considered

Can an ordinary conservative American guest-conduct a symphony for one night at a no-name, municipal orchestra without the national media weighing in to destroy the event? No. Apparently it’s just too much to handle for NPR, the New York Times, and the LA Times to fathom that Dennis Prager, a conservative radio show host and commentator (who also happens to be a musical conductor) could accept an invitation from the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra to do something he’s done many times before with no fuss: guest conduct the city orchestra through a Haydn Symphony for one evening at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

When Immigration Becomes 2 Fast, 2 Furious…Oops – Tuberculosis Outbreak!

Virtue-signaling, the lazy, self-justifying compulsion of most progressives you went to school with, is the act of communicating by words, actions, or illustration their passion for some social justice issue that makes them look 1) caring; 2) in step with the times. It doesn’t need to be followed up with any walking of the talk, it just needs to be signified on Facebook cover photos, t-shirts, or words spoken a little louder than necessary at Starbucks. And although the hot social issue du jour for leftists changes a bit every 2 – 3 years, when an issue is “in”, it’s In. And today what’s In is “Welcoming Refugees”.

Terror State Qatar Buys Chunk of Empire State Building

Qatar, the persian gulf state adjacent to Saudi Arabia which is one of the most significant funders of international islamic terrorism, recently purchased a 10% state in the Empire State building in New York City. It’s bad enough that the U.S. government allowed that to happen in 2015, but even worse is its new (part) owner’s insistence that the islamic holiday Eid al-Fitr be celebrated by lighting the top of the building all in green (green being the universally recognized traditional color of Islam.) It may seem like nothing important to most Americans, but to Muslims and especially Arabs, for whom symbolism plays a profound role in culture and religion which few westerners appreciate, it is highly significant.

Dutch Town Cancels Christmas Celebrations for Fear of Berlin-style Jihad Massacre

Timidity in the face of barbarity. We’ve seen this pattern increasing across Europe as the 2015 wave of massive Muslim immigration has led to jihadist attacks and fear of attacks. Here was a case not so much of a specific threat as it was the native Dutch citizens deciding they simply didn’t want their elementary school children to experience an atmosphere of unease during a town Christmas festival.

France: Center-Right Républicains Unexpectedly Select Fillon as Their Presidential Candidate

In a sign the populist-right Front National’s presidential candidate Marine Le Pen is being taken extremely seriously by the French establishment, Les Républicains, party of former president Nicholas Sarkozy, has elected an outspoken Thatcherite to stand for the 2017 national election. Fillon is the author of the book Conquering Islamic Totalitarianism, has indicated his support for an anti-burkini law and embraces conservative economic views of working hours and pensions.
